Take the butter out of the fridge or even melt it a little to get it soft to mix. Bring sufficient water to boil for the potatoes to be covered in water. Peel and cut potatoes in small pieces for faster cooking. They will be smashed afterwards. Cook them. Cut the onion by knife into tiny 1mm cubes. Cut the garlic by knife into tiny 1mm cubes. Mix all ingredients together with sour cream added last. Let the Erdäpfelkas rest for min 1 hour. The longer the better.
